Bayview Elementary Inclusive Playground
WHO ARE WE
Our school, nestled in the heart of the south end of Nanaimo, has seen a significant rise in our student population, and with it, the need for an upgraded, safer playground. The current playground, though well-loved, has aged and no longer adequately caters to the needs of our growing student body.
We are embarking on a project to revitalize our playground to ensure a safe and stimulating environment for our students. However, we need your help to make this vision a reality.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a substantial difference in providing a vibrant space where our children can learn, grow, and play. We are exploring various avenues to fundraise, including events, sponsorships, and community partnerships.
Your generosity and support will not only benefit our current students but also future generations who will benefit from an enhanced learning environment.
Please consider joining hands with us on this meaningful journey by donating, volunteering, or spreading the word within our community. Your assistance in fundraising for our playground renovation project will have a lasting impact on the education and well-being of our students.

WHAT IS AN INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND?
And Why Does it Matter.
Just as the definition may elude to, an inclusive playground is a playground that includes the abilities of all children. It goes without saying that no two children are alike. While some children may be able to run and climb without the need for assistance, others may require mobility aids such as a walker, forearm crutches, or a wheelchair. While you may find some children sensory seeking, others may look to avoid sensory stimulation whenever possible. When one child may have good upper body strength and stability, others may require stability and safety measures throughout play. An inclusive playground takes all of these unique characteristics into consideration and creates an environment where children of all abilities can play safely and happily alongside one another.
